Fundoplication

Patients that suffer from acid reflux (GERD), may suffer from a weakened lower esophageal sphincter (LES). 

 

A minimally invasive procedure, usually done in conjunction to a hiatal hernia repair, wraps the stomach around itself to create a natural valve against reflux.

A great option for those suffering from reflux chronically, on log term medications, or once medication is no longer working.

The procedure tends to take about 60-90 minutes and it is done with small incisions, under general anesthesia.
